Authorities have not been able to identify the body of a woman found Sunday in Choctawhatchee Bay.
Jeff Martin, director with the Medical Examiner’s Office, said an autopsy is scheduled to be performed today. He said fingerprints have been collected in an effort to positively identify the woman, but additional testing has to be performed.
The remains were found partially in the water and partially across a rock at the seawall by an occupant at an Indian Trail home, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Martin said the remains were in the water for several days or weeks, making the identity of the woman difficult to pinpoint without more testing. He said the Medical Examiner’s Office hopes to have some preliminary information on the woman after the autopsy.
