A 57-year-old motorcyclist is in critical condition following a wreck on Old Bagdad Highway and Rice Road.
Thomas Alton Sanders was traveling east on Old Bagdad when the rear tire of his 1977 Honda motorcycle began to skid, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.
The Bagdad man lost control of the bike about 135 feet into the skid, causing the motorcycle to fall to the ground, ejecting Sanders 110 feet before he landed in the eastbound lane of the roadway.
The motorcycle continued skidding another 180 feet before stopping, causing about $5,000 in damage to the bike.
According to witnesses, Sanders was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the press release.
Sanders was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola in critical condition.
Charges in the wreck are pending.
