FLOROSA — A woman from Navarre was killed Friday afternoon when her motorcycle hit a pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Seville Circle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP identified the woman as 59-year-old Shaaron Jackson Lively. She died at the scene.
Lively was riding her 2003 Honda motorcycle west on U.S. 98 in the inside lane about noon when 42-year-old William E. Smith of Fort Walton Beach crossed her path after he pulled out of Seville Circle in a 2010 GMC pickup truck, according to the FHP. Lively’s motorcycle hit the left front of the truck, FHP reported.
The motorcycle ended up in the left turn lane on westbound U.S. 98, according to FHP. The truck stopped in the median cut and the westbound left-turn lane.
Traffic was blocked for several hours after the crash.
Lively was wearing a helmet and Smith was wearing a seat belt, the FHP reported.
Charges are pending. Alcohol results came back negative for Smith and were pending for Lively.
Florosa firefighters, Okaloosa County EMS crews and sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.
