Keep an eye on the skies; you may see something rare in Florida

Northwest Florida residents need to keep an eye on the skies Friday morning.

If they look really hard, they might see snow.

“It’s very fine,” said Joe Maniscalco, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Mobile. “It’s going to be little pellets but it’s going to be small – very small. We’re not expecting any accumulation.”

He said they were already seeing it over in Mobile Friday morning and the system was moving east.

As of 8:30 a.m., there were some bands over Okaloosa and Santa Rosa County.

“There is potential of really light sleet, really light snow,” he said. “It’s rare down here.”
