MILTON — Brandon Aydelott was found incompetent to stand trial at a Wednesday afternoon hearing at the Santa Rosa County Courthouse.
The 17-year-old faces first degree murder charges. He is accused of bludgeoning and stabbing his mother, 42-year-old Sharon Aydelott, in their Gulf Breeze home on Christmas Eve.

Two psychological evaluations conducted on Aydelott since his arrest determined him unfit to stand trial, according to First Judicial Circuit Public Defender Bruce Miller.
Aydelott, who had several nonsensical outbursts prior to the short hearing, will be committed to the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. A hearing to reevaluate his competency was tentatively scheduled for July.
