DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — Police believe someone kicked in the door of a home on Walton Road over the weekend, stole a shotgun and then set fire to the place, according to a news release from the DeFuniak Springs Police Department.
Police were called to the home at 1542 Walton Road about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
They found smoke and some smoldering items.
Articles and furnishings were blackened with soot, and evidence indicated the fire had been set intentionally after the break-in, police reported. No one was home at the time.
The shotgun was reportedly the only stolen item and has since been recovered.
