CRESTVIEW – A man was stopped because of an expired vehicle tag. Marijuana, cocaine, hydrocodone and paraphernalia later, the man faced several drug charges, according to police.
The man, 23-year-old Billy Charles Martin Jr., of Crestview, was stopped because the sticker on his four-door Ford had expired. He was stopped by a Crestview police officer.
The car smelled like marijuana, the officer noted, so he searched Martin. He found a plastic bag containing a green, leafy substance in Martin’s right front pants pocket, and another in his left front pocket. He also found a plastic bag containing four individually wrapped plastic bags containing a white, powdery substance in his left front pants pocket. A pill was in his right front pants pocket.
The officer also found a plastic bag of suspected marijuana in the glove box of Wilson’s vehicle.
Lastly, the officer found a box of plastic bags and a digital scale under the driver’s seat.
The substances tested positive for marijuana and cocaine.
Wilson admitted the drugs belonged to him.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance – marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance – cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled substance – acetaminophen/hydrocodone.
His plea date is Feb. 4.
