MILTON — While family and friends plan to move forward after the slaying of Sharon Aydelott, the murder case against her son is just beginning.
William Brandon Aydelott entered a written not guilty plea Thursday in Santa Rosa County Circuit Court. His attorney, Public Defender Gary Bostick, will appear in court Jan. 23 to file a formal plea.
Aydelott, 17, is accused of killing his mother on Christmas Eve. The senior at Gulf Breeze High School stabbed and bludgeoned her in her home on Crane Cove Boulevard in Gulf Breeze, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that he confessed to attacking his mother after they had an argument.
The state attorney’s office confirmed Dec. 26 that it has filed paperwork charging Aydelotte with second-degree murder in adult court, which state law allows in murder cases.
Aydelott, who will be 18 next month, is being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail.
