NICEVILLE — A Niceville woman died after she was hit by a car while crossing John Sims Parkway on Saturday evening.
At about 6:15 p.m., Sabrina L’Orange crossed the road near the Turkey Creek Bridge, according to the Niceville police department.
She stepped out in front of a westbound car and was hit, police officers reported.
The Niceville Fire Department and Okaloosa County EMS responded to the crash.
“It was pretty bad,” said Niceville Fire Chief Tommy Mayville.
L’Orange, who is in her 40s, was taken to Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville. She died shortly after from her injuries, police reported.
Rosetta Danigole was driving the car, but was not at fault, said Niceville Police Chief David Popwell on Sunday.
“The driver wasn’t doing anything wrong,” he said.
Popwell said officers are still investigating the wreck, but no charges are expected.
