Brian Michael Robinson was sentenced to 42 months in prison Monday on nine counts of possession of child pornography and one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child.
Robinson, who was scheduled to have been tried on the charges in mid-November, opted instead for the plea of no contest, said Bill Bishop, the chief assistant state attorney in the Okaloosa County office of Florida’s First Judicial Circuit.
The charges against Robinson, a Crestview resident, originated out of an investigation conducted in 2007-08 by the Fort Walton Beach Police and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Bishop said.
But Robinson was deployed with the military when officers went to arrest him.
“He was stationed out of country when the charges came down,” Bishop said.
Robinson turned himself in to authorities in June of 2012 when he learned arrest warrants had been filed, Bishop said.
The prison sentence will be followed by five years of probation and Robinson will be designated a sexual offender, Bishop said.
