The new year is right around the corner and so are those resolutions. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone else, here’s some great gear to stock a gym bag.
l Foam roller. This is a great tool to use on a consistent basis to help with muscle recovery. Using a foam roller will help stretch and release tight muscles in your back, hips and legs.
l Rumble roller. This is another option like the traditional foam roller. The difference is that it has “high-profile bumbs” designed to stimulate deeper layers of muscle tissue and manipulate soft tissue like a massage therapist. It’s an alternative if you can’t make it in for a massage.
l Resistance bands. These bands have more than one role. They can substitute for weights for resistance training and can be used for stretching and increasing mobility. They are also ideal if you are looking to strengthen a weak muscle group.
l Heart rate monitor. This tool is a great way to keep track of the intensity of your workout. There are several types available, but most have a wristwatch feature that allows you to consistently gauge your progress during your training session.
l Pedometer. These little gadgets are easy to strap on and will keep track of every step you take. Use this tool to set a daily goal or monitor your activity level throughout the week.
l Jump rope. Using a jump rope is great way to warm up for a workout or use for cardiovascular interval training.
l Weighted vest. If you’re looking to take your workout to the next level, strap on a weighted vest. Whether you’re hiking, running, walking, biking or pushing your kids in the stroller, adding more resistance will be more challenging and burn more calories.
l Blender bottle. This bottle is great for mixing up a quick protein shake after a workout and also can double as a water bottle. It’s quick, easy and makes cleanup a breeze.
The list of fitness products is endless. Find something helpful to put under the tree this year!
