MILTON — Two locals are in critical condition following a Tuesday morning wreck on East Gate Road near Munson Highway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Eric W. Young, 20, of Milton was stopped at a stop sign on East Gate Road around 6:30 a.m. in a 2006 Kia four door when he was rear ended by a 2007 Chrysler van and forced into the stopped car in front of him.
Young and his passenger, 30-year-old Milton resident Kimberly D. Apperson were critically injured and taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for their injuries. The 2006 Ford pickup truck driver hit by Young’s car, 41-year-old Milton resident Joseph A. Winslow, suffered minor injuries. He was not transported to any medical facility.
The wreck caused a total estimate of $17,000 in damages, the FHP release said.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the pair, 23-year-old Dakota Crank, left the scene before officials arrived.
Crank was later found in Pensacola and charged with careless driving, leaving the scene of a crash with injury, driving with a suspended or revoked license, driving with a suspended or revoked license with serious bodily injury, according to the release.
