After 18 years with the Northwest Florida Daily News, Editor Colin Lipnicky has announced his intention to step down by the end of the year.
Lipnicky has been the editor since 2008. Prior to that, he served as the managing editor and night city editor.
“I am extremely fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to work at the Daily News in various roles, from reporter to editor, over the last 18 years, and I am very proud of all of the solid journalism that has been produced during my time here,” Lipnicky said.
“Now, after five years as editor, I am ready to move on to a new challenge, and I am currently in the process of exploring new opportunities. I plan to stay in the area because Northwest Florida is my home, and I will continue to support the Daily News and its role in our community.”
Lipnicky also worked as the Destin bureau chief and as a reporter at the Daily News before moving into management.
“Colin has brought tremendous integrity, a strong work ethic and a deep love for this community to the Daily News for 18 years,” Daily News Publisher Skip Foster said. “He cares deeply about his employees at the Daily News and has worked so very hard to make our content the best it can be.”
“I have the utmost confidence that Colin will succeed at whatever he chooses to and wish him the absolute best moving forward.”
