DESTIN — A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she was found driving drunk with the sliding door of her van open and a young child riding in the back seat, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Marsha Jones, who lives in Santa Rosa Beach, was arrested Saturday and charged with driving under the influence, child neglect and resisting an officer.

A concerned passer-by called the Sheriff’s Office after observing Jones driving erratically and speeding down U.S. Highway 98 with the back door open and a child in a car seat.

When she was pulled over, the deputy immediately smelled alcohol, according to her arrest report. She seemed surprised when he mentioned the open door.

Jones failed a field sobriety test, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She also refused to comply with the deputy’s commands and then refused to take a breath test at the booking facility, the report states.

She was released from Okaloosa County Jail on Sunday on $5,000 bond, according to jail records.
