NAVARRE — A single-wide mobile home on Molina Street was destroyed Tuesday night after it was struck by lightning.
Battalion Chief Howie Rounsaville with Holley-Navarre Fire Department said emergency responders were called to the home after neighbors spotted smoke and flames at the vacant home around 7:50 p.m.
Crews extinguished the flames within 30 minutes, but the home was a total loss. Gulf Power was also called to the scene to turn off power to a pole near the home.
“After we knocked it down we did an overhaul and salvage of what was left,” Rounsaville said. “We’re calling it a total loss. Parts of the trailer actually collapsed because of the amount of fire.”
Navarre Beach Fire, Florosa Volunteer Fire and Midway Fire departments assisted with the call.
