NAVARRE BEACH — The Navarre Beach Fishing Pier will host the fourth annual Take a Kid Fishing day on Oct. 12.
The event for children 5 to 12 years old begins at 8 a.m.
Registration forms are available at the pier, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Holley By The Sea Fishing Club at the Holley By The Sea Recreation Center.
Completed forms must be turned in by Oct. 6.
Children who preregister will get a T-shirt and rod a reel.
Members of the Marine Science Club and the Holley By The Sea Fishing Club will assist children at the event. Before fishing, children must visit the educational tents set up in the parking lot.
No participants will be allowed onto the pier before 8 a.m. Parents will be allowed onto the pier with their children at no charge.
The Santa Rosa County Commission also has agreed to let children fish from the pier for free throughout October.
