Two injured in multi-vehicle crash

DeFUNIAK SPRINGS -- Two people were injured, one critically, in a multiple vehicle accident Tuesday evening on U.S. Highway 331.

Two of the three drivers involved were taken to the hospital after their vehicles collided at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue, according to DeFuniak Springs Police.

None of the drivers was identified.

The crash occurred after the driver of a northbound Acura failed to yield at the intersection of U.S. 331 and Live Oak, according to a police news release. The Acura struck a Mercury that was eastbound on Live Oak. The vehicles spun and hit a Honda sedan waiting to make a left turn onto U.S. 331.

The driver of the Acura was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast with non-life threatening injuries. The Mercury’s driver was flown to Bay Medical Center in critical condition.

The third driver was not taken to a hospital.

Police continued to investigate the crash Wednesday, the news release said.
