CRESTVIEW – A man was arrested after he tangled with police for interrupting a fight he was having with his cousin.
Crestview Police officers received a call saying five people – two men and three women – were fighting in the middle of Anderson Street. When lawmen arrived they saw several people in the street, who started walking away upon seeing lawmen.
When officers started questioning the people, a man became angry and started yelling at them and flailing his arms, according to the arrest report. Officers said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and his speech was slurred and repetitive.
The man refused to stop putting his hands in an officer’s face and started cursing. He allegedly said, “I know my (deleted) rights. You can’t do (deleted). I am at my (deleted) house.”
The man admitted he’d been drinking and fighting with his cousin.
Officers put him in the back of a patrol car to calm down, but he continued to argue and curse loudly, causing a disturbance. He was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication.
His plea date is Sept. 24.
