Learn how one animal can affect the lives of hundreds of species

NICEVILLE — The director of the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center in Walton County will open the fall series of Science Friday seminars at Northwest Florida State College with a lecture about keystone species at 11 a.m.

Paul Arthur’s one-hour presentation of “A Once Common, Now Forgotten Keystone Species” will discuss how one animal affects the lives of hundreds of local species. Arthur also will discuss the mission of the Biophilia Center and its work to educate students and the public about the importance of preservation and conservation of ecosystems.

The Science Friday seminars are hosted by the Sciences Division at NWF State. They are held in the main lecture hall, Room S-110, of the Robert E. Greene Jr. Science Building in the center quad of the Niceville campus at 100 College Blvd.

The seminars are free and open to the public.
