MILTON - Santa Rosa County sheriff's deputies captured an escaped inmate from Arkansas and his girlfriend Thursday in a wooded area near the intersection of County Road 182 and Chumuckla Highway.
Derrick Glen Estell escaped from the Garland County Detention Center in Hot Springs, Ark., in July, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Estell is wanted in Arkansas for escape, two counts of fleeing, six counts of commercial burglary, two counts of aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm, theft of property up to $5,000 and leaving the scene of personal injury. He also is wanted for residential burglary, six counts of criminal mischief, resisting arrest, escape 2nd degree, two counts of theft by receiving up $1,000, four counts of theft by receiving a firearm and possession of a firearm.
Officials say Estell’s family and girlfriend Tamara Upshaw helped him escape.
Deputies received a tip Thursday they were in the county. Estell and Upshaw were discovered in an abandoned home and gave up without incident.
They were being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond. Extra precautions have been put in place to secure them.
