JAY — A 17-year-old girl was killed Thursday in a four-wheeler accident on Oil Plant Road just two miles north of State Road 4.
Cheyenne T. Glenn of Jay was driving the ATV southbound on Oil Plant Road around 5:10 p.m. when she failed to negotiate an uphill curve and went into the east shoulder and embankment, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.
The four-wheeler went up the embankment hitting several small trees with the front of the ATV and undercarriage and then hit a large limb that had fallen and was lying just off the ground, the release said.
The left side and front of the four-wheeler hit the large limb, causing the limb to break and hit Glenn and her passenger, 10-year-old Jadynn Dannelley of Jay.
The impact with the limb caused both Glenn and Jadynn to come out of their seats.
Glenn was pronounced dead at the scene. Jadynn is in critical condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
FHP is investigating the crash.
