Teen hospitalized after nearly drowning

SHALIMAR - A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Wednesday after a nearly drowning at the pool of a home on Japonica Lane, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Alex Hill was at a party with friends when someone noticed he was motionless at the bottom of the pool, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Bystanders had pulled the Choctawhatchee student out and administered CPR by the time rescuers arrived just after 4 p.m., according to Ocean City-Wright firefighters.

Hill was stabilized at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center before he was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
