My first three weeks have been an incredible mix of external and internal relationship-building. Externally, I have met dozens of fascinating people who have one thing in common — they care about their communities and want to see The Daily News facilitate progress and enhance a top-flight quality of life.
Internally, the findings have been equally as interesting — and much the same. Daily News staffers are passionate about our region and so very much want to inform you, solve your advertising problems and deliver top customer service. We all know we can improve in all of those areas and are excited about the challenge.
With that backdrop, an important announcement:
Effective Aug. 19, we will move to a new digital subscription business model. For our print subscribers nothing will change; you will continue to have access to nwfdailynews.com at no charge. Your subscription will be automatically upgraded to give you access to the region’s most complete source of content. You also will have access to our mobile platforms and our e-edition, which is an electronic replica of that day’s print edition.
If you choose to exclusively access nwfdailynews.com but do not want a home delivery print subscription, you will be asked to buy a digital subscription for only $9.95 a month. That’s right, for less than a typical MONTHLY cable bill, you can receive an entire YEAR of content through our digital platforms, such as the website, mobile site and app.
Your digital subscription will give you access to all the local news, sports and entertainment news to which you have become accustomed (and we are working even as you read this to add even more local content to our package). You also will have access to military news, obituaries, local photo galleries and much more.
The volume of content on nwfdailynews.com is extensive and, we believe, an excellent value. We are committed to keeping you informed about what is happening in Okaloosa County and points beyond.
This new business model will allow you to consume your news the way you want it.
Thank you for your loyal support of The Daily News. On a personal note, I continue to be impressed by this community and I am genuinely excited about our prospects for the future.
