Police called to look into purse thefts, trashing of car

NICEVILLE – The following incidents in the recent past were investigated or remain under investigation by Niceville Police:

July 17: Somebody broke into a van on College Boulevard and stole the following items, a woman reported: a purse, a wallet, a change purse, gift cards worth $200, a Samsung phone and a phone case and clip. The next day, the woman said she discovered charges on her credit card, which had been in the missing wallet.

July 17: A woman told police she came home to her Reeves Street residence to discover the front door kicked in and jewelry and medication missing. She described a possible suspect, he was targeted by a restraining order from entering the residence, but said she didn’t want to file a report.

July 17: A woman at Northwest Florida State College said her purse was stolen from her vehicle parked at the college. There was no sign of forced entry. An officer gave her an affidavit to fill out.

July 21: A woman called the department to complain somebody came to her house and vandalized another person’s car. She said they broke out the front windshield and both front headlights. The car was parked at her residence on 27th Street because it had been running hot. The owner was told of the damage and said she didn’t want to pursue a criminal investigation, as she would get the car fixed herself. The case was closed.
