FREEPORT — A 47-year-old man was located by officials after being missing for six days.
Max “Mickey” Hubert Garodnick was found on board a boat named “Mother” docked at Freeport Shipyard on Lafayette Creek on Tuesday morning, according to a Walton County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Search crews had been working since late last week in an attempt to find Garodnick who had been off his medication for more than 100 hours by the time they found him. He was last seen Thursday walking in a swamp area near Lafayette Creek off State Road 20.
Crews were patrolling the area of Lafayette Creek when they noticed a man on board the boat. After speaking with the boat’s owner who said no one should have been on board, they investigated further and found Garodnick.
Officials with the Walton County Sheriff’s and Bay County Sheriff’s Office along with the Escambia County Sear and Rescue.
Garodnick was found to be in good health, but was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
