CRESTVIEW – A woman was arrested for trying to steal a shopping cart full of items from Walmart, lawmen say.
The Crestview Police Department obtained this statement from a loss prevention associate with the store:
“I was investigating a previous retail theft incident with the white female, when I observed her in the store today. I followed her throughout the store, while she placed items in the cart. The female walked towards the general merchandise side and past all points of sale. I stopped her just past the inner doors. I escorted her without incident to the back of the store. The total of the items was approximately $320.47.”
The woman, 50-year-old Lori A. Morgia of Crestview, made the following statement:
“I was walking around the store with my friend. We were shopping. I was on the phone talking to my daughter and was trying to find out if she was done shopping when the alarm went off. I didn’t realize I had left the store without paying. A Walmart employee stopped me and we went to the office in the back of the store.”
Morgia’s plea date is Aug. 13.
