DESTIN - A man was arrested and charged with drunken driving Wednesday after a traffic crash on Airport Road on Wednesday, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
The two-vehicle wreck occurred at 6:15 p.m. just east of Mattie Kelly Boulevard, the Sheriff's Office reported.
Barry Thomas Reger, 31, of Destin, was being loaded into an ambulance when deputies arrived, according to his arrest report. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy and his breath smelled like alcohol, the report said.
He said he had taken a curve too fast.
The 2007 Toyota Tacoma he was driving was on its roof in the eastbound lane of Airport Road, his arrest report said. A damaged white Chevrolet Tahoe was in the south shoulder.
Beer bottles were all over the crash scene, the arrest report stated.
Reger and the other driver were to Destin Emergency Care Center. Reger was later taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Reger was charged with DUI and property damage. He was taken to Okaloosa County Jail and released on $1,000 bond.
