CHOCTAW BEACH —Two goats were on the loose Friday afternoon along State Road 20.
Calls from worried motorists started coming in at shortly before 12:30 p.m., said Catherine Rodriguez, spokeswoman for the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Donald Lovell had just bought the animals and was taking them to his home on Live Oak Circle when they got away, Rodriguez said.
Deputies tried to wrangle the animals, but they ran across SR 20 near Cedar Drive and were lost among the rocks along Choctawhatchee Bay.
A livestock team was called in to capture them, but the rocks proved passable only to goats.
The posse was still trying to capture the animals about 5 p.m., Rodriguez said.
