Fugitive recognized by officer on vacation

SANTA ROSA BEACH - Homeland Security officer vacationing in Walton County recognized a man wanted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and called the Walton County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning.

Deputies later arrested Max Terhune, 29, of Memphis, Tenn., about 11 a.m. on U.S. Highway 98 and County Road 283, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Catherine Rodriguez.

Terhune had synthetic drugs on him, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

He is a part of a multi-count federal indictment by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Tennessee.

Terhune was charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office with one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute, according to a news release from the agency.
