The crash occurred about 4:09 p.m. at the intersection of Ninth Avenue, Shalimar Police Chief John Cash said.

Jody Rice, 36, of Winder, Ga., ran a red light at the intersection in a 2007 Toyota Tundra and hit the rear of a red 2004 Dodge pickup truck in the middle lane of Eglin. The pickup, driven by Santiago Bidal, 25, of Fort Walton Beach, veered off the road and hit the BP gas pump, Cash said.

Both men were treated and released from Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, he said.

The wreck closed northbound Eglin for about an hour.

Rice was cited for running a red light. Bidal was cited for having an expired driver’s license.
