SHALIMAR -- A 28-year-old Miramar Beach resident has been identified as the man who shot himself Monday morning at a Shalimar hotel after a six-hour stand-off with law enforcement.
Blake Seamster was wanted on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault and false imprisonment in Walton County, according to a release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
Seamster, who was known to be in possession of firearms, had checked himself into the Fairfield Inn on 12th Avenue in Shalimar early Sunday morning.
The OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Unit responded and Seamster, who refused to leave, the release said. The hotel was evacuated and traffic was rerouted on nearby roads, including Eglin Parkway.
The stand-off ended around 2 a.m. Monday when Seamster shot and killed himself inside his room on the third floor.
