Authorities say man intentionally struck relative with SUV after argument

SPRING HILL — A man has been arrested after authorities say he purposefully struck a relative with an SUV following an argument.

Hernando County Sheriff's officials said 28-year-old Phillip Atkins was visiting family members in Spring Hill when he and another male relative got into a fight Friday night. After the fight, authorities said Atkins left and returned a short time later and struck Randall Nelson with his Ford Expedition SUV.

Authorities said Nelson was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Atkins has been charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm and is being held on $100,000 bond.
