WATERSOUND — A 38-year-old man from Miramar Beach was killed after he was thrown from his Jeep Wrangler on U.S. Highway 98 shortly after midnight Sunday.
Elliott Lee Culbreath was driving west on U.S. 98 just past Watersound Parkway about 12:15 a.m. when he veered off the road into a grassy ditch on the shoulder, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
He crossed over a driveway culvert that shot the Jeep into the air. While airborne, the Jeep flipped over several times.
Culbreath was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown out, the FHP reported.
The Jeep landed on its left side and Culbreath hit the ground in front of it.
He died at the scene.
