SANTA ROSA BEACH - A man confessed to taking items from two cars at Edgewater Condominiums earlier this week, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday, deputies investigated the theft of an iPod, jewelry and credit cards, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. Witnesses reported seeing a Hispanic man in the parking garage close to the time of the burglary.
During a follow-up investigation Tuesday, a woman reported that her house guest, Christian Paul Orcutt of Woodstock, Ga., may be a suspect.
Deputies also learned of a second car burglary in which a firearm was stolen.
Deputies spoke with Orcutt, who confessed to the crimes. The property was returned.
Orcutt was charged with burglary to a conveyance, grand theft of a firearm, grand theft and criminal mischief. He was taken to the Walton County Jail.
The investigation is continuing.
