CRESTVIEW – A man who says he “owed people money” solved his debt problem by renting a computer, then pawning it, Crestview Police say.
On May 25 the owner of Anything Pawn contacted police and told them 47-year-old Brack Dean Davis of Crestview entered the business and pawned an Asus laptop computer for $125. That same day, the owner learned the computer was owned by Rent-A-Center.
The manager of Rent-A-Center told lawmen that on May 24, Davis signed a rental agreement for the computer. He deferred the down payment to the first month’s payment.
Davis was arrested. According to his arrest report, he told police he hocked the computer because he “owed people money.”
He was charged with grand theft and fraud. His court date is July 9.
