The Supervisor of Elections Office will host a free Candidate University on June 20 for people interested in running for public office or for those who just want to learn about the process.
Two sessions will be offered: 9 a.m. to noon in Crestview and 6 to 9 p.m. in Fort Walton Beach.
The program will focus on fundamentals of being a candidate for elected office. Participants will be introduced to each step process, including pre-filing, collecting petitions and qualifying.
Campaign pitfalls will also be discussed, as well as audits, recounts and contest of elections. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion.
Candidate University will be held again in the fall.
The registration deadline is June 17. Contact Bridget Richard at 689-5600 or at brichard@co.okaloosa.fl.us to register.
