The Walton County Republican Executive Committee voted Monday to elect Bill Fletcher and Charlotte Flynt as its new state committeeman and committeewoman.
Jim Anders, the county’s Republican Party chairman, said 29 executive committee members voted. A representative of the Republican Party of Florida was present to oversee the balloting.
Flynt had no opposition, but Fletcher had to fend off two other candidates, Mike Flynt and Craig Otto.
Otto had been active in Okaloosa County’s Republican Party in the past.
Fletcher and Flynt replace Lane and Brenda Rees on the Walton County committee. Both resigned following Lane Rees’ arrest April 1 on child pornography charges.
Rees faces 44 charges: three counts of promoting the sexual performance of a child and 41 counts of possession of child pornography.
He pleaded not guilty April 30 and will appear in court for a pre-trial conference July 18.
