SANTA ROSA BEACH - A teenager and an adult were arrested Friday and charged with several burglaries, including some in Driftwood Estates, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
An elderly resident of East Mack Bayou called deputies after seeing two men hanging around a neighbor’s back window, a Sheriff's Office news release said. They left after speaking with her.
Deputies found the home’s window open and its screen broken, the news release reported.
Deputies later arrested Miguel Arceo, 16, and Thomas Howells, 22, and charged them with burglary to a structure and criminal mischief.
They also have been connected to several burglaries in Driftwood Estates. Both were charged with one count of felony criminal mischief, one count of grand theft, two counts of burglary, one count of grand theft of a firearm and one count of grand theft from the elderly. Howells also was charged with dealing in stolen property.
Howells was taken to the Walton County Jail. Arceo was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Center in Crestview.
