CRESTVIEW – Lawmen say a man battered his girlfriend, at one point telling her she didn’t “have a chance” against him.

On April 22 the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to a Sikes Drive residence to check out a report of a domestic violence incident. A woman who was highly upset told them she’d been battered by her boyfriend, 24-year-old Riley Leon-Eugene Lunsford of Crestview.

Deputies noted the woman had blood on her face around her lips, and bruising on her neck.

She said Lunsford became agitated for some unknown reason, grabbed her and struck her in the face. She said he was shouting, “I’m stronger than you, you don’t have a chance.”

When she fell down he choked her, she said.

Deputies found Lunsford a short time later. He refused to answer questions or explain himself to deputies.

He was charged with felony battery, and battery by strangulation.

His court date is May 28.
