MILTON — A 32-year-old Pensacola man was killed Monday night in a wreck on Interstate 10.

Daniel Mac Dobbins was driving east in the outside lane east of Milton at 9:54 p.m. when he failed to see a semitrailer stopped in the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The semitrailer's driver, Vladimir Carrion, 34, of Hialeah had tried to change lanes about 9:44 p.m. and hit a Kia Optima driven by Constance Lois Amy, 58, of Niceville, the FHP reported.

The two vehicles stayed in the outside lanes, the FHP reported. Carrion had placed emergency reflectors in the road and activated his emergency flashers on the truck and trailer.

Dobbins drove his 2006 Volkswagen Passat over the reflectors and hit the 2003 Freightliner. The Passat lodged under the trailer, the FHP reported.

Carrion, Amy and Amy’s passenger, Joy Louise Van Steenburgh, 43, of Niceville, were not hurt, according to the FHP.

Carrion was to be charged with failure to drive in a single lane in connection with the first crash.

Dobbins was not wearing a seat belt, according to the FHP, which was still investigating the crash.
