A Shalimar police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday night when his vehicle was rear-ended on Eglin Parkway.

Sgt. Steve Shadwell’s 2005 Crown Victoria was stopped in the southbound center lane near Ninth Avenue with its emergency lights flashing about 10:30 p.m. while Ingram Signalization Inc. was working on a traffic signal, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was parked in the center lane in front of the patrol car with an arrow board on a trailer that signaled motorists to merge.

Catherine Haddix, 35, of Gulf Breeze, was driving south in a 2008 Honda Accord when she rear-ended Shadwell’s car. The impact sent the patrol car into the arrow board, the FHP reported.

Shadwell and Haddix each suffered minor injuries.

Each vehicle sustained about $5,000 in damage.

Haddix was charged with careless driving, having an open container and no proof of insurance.
