NAVARRE - Three people were sent to the hospital Friday afternoon after a school bus and a pickup truck collided at Bay Club Drive and East Bay Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Colton Patrick Boney, 17, of Navarre, was driving west on East Bay Boulevard about 3:55 p.m. when his 2007 GMC Sierra hydroplaned, the FHP reported.
The Sierra hit the school bus driven by Annette Simmons Potter, 43, of Fort Walton Beach, while the bus was stopped at the intersection of Bay Club Drive, according to the FHP.
Two of the 15 students from Navarre High School on the bus suffered minor injuries, the FHP reported. One was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital and the other was taken to Baptist Health Care.
Boney had to be extricated from the truck, said Howie Rounsaville, battalion chief for the Holley-Navarre Fire Department.
Boney was taken to Baptist Health Care with serious injuries. His passenger, Anthony Nicholas Paone, 16, of Navarre, was not hurt.
The FHP charged Boney with (special hazard) failure to use due care.
