The Okaloosa County Sheriff‘s Office has signed an agreement with the Civil Air Patrol Eglin Composite Squadron for the group to help in emergencies.
The volunteer civilian unit will help the Sheriff‘s Office with aerial searches, rescue missions, relief or disaster assistance and other tasks, according to a news release from the Sheriff‘s Office.
The nonprofit Civil Air Patrol is an official auxiliary of the Air Force with more than 61,000 members nationwide. The organization is credited with saving an average of 80 lives each year through its searches and rescues.
