NICEVILLE – A man called Niceville Police to complain he was almost run over by a female bicyclist.
The incident occurred March 27 on Bayshore Drive. The man said he was jogging when a woman riding her bike on the sidewalk came up behind him and passed him, which scared him.
He said the woman turned around at Lions Park and he put up his hand to stop her. He told her he didn’t have eyes in the back of his head, at which time she “let him have it and began cursing him out,” the incident report indicated.
The man told police there was no city ordinance against riding a bike on the sidewalk, but a state statute covered the issue. The officer said didn’t believe there was a state statute, but offered to find out and give the man a call.
State law allows bicycle riders to operate on sidewalks.
