NAVARRE — A 47-year-old man was seriously injured after he crashed his motorcycle while trying to avoid a collision with a pick-up truck Saturday night.
David Herbst, who lives in Mary Esther, was headed west on U.S. Highway 98 about 8 p.m. when a pick-up truck pulled off Larker Woods Drive and into the path of his motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the pick-up, James Brooks, 56 of Navarre, failed to yield to the motorcycle, the FHP reported.
Herbst swerved to try to avoid a collision with the truck. His bike flipped onto its left side and slid about 140 feet.
Herbst was wearing a helmet, the FHP reported.
He was taken to Baptist Hospital for treatment.
The wreck was still under investigation Sunday evening. No charges had been filed.
