SANTA ROSA BEACH — A 61-year-old man was arrested late Monday evening and charged with possession of child pornography following a month-long investigation by the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
Lane Charles Rees was booked in the Walton County Jail on Monday and faces more than 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted of the possession charge as well as the charge of transmission of child pornography.
The Sheriff's Office cyber-crime unit began an investigation in late February after reciving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about an individual trading child pornography media files. According to a Sheriff's Office press release, investigators discovered the owner of the account was Rees.
A search warrant was conducted on Rees' Lakeview Drive home and he was arrested later that evening.
