Man killed, woman seriously hurt in rollover wreck

HOLMES COUNTY — A 62-year-old man from Fort Walton Beach died in a rollover wreck on Interstate 10 in Sunday afternoon. His passenger was seriously injured.

Algie King was driving east on I-10 at the 115 mile marker in a sports utility vehicle when the rear tire began to separate, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 3:20 p.m., King lost control and veered into the grassy median and the SUV rolled over several times. The car came to rest right side up in the westbound lanes of I-10.

King was taken to Doctor's Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Lecinda King, the 59-year-old who was in the passenger seat of the SUV, was seriously injured. She was taken to Bay Medical Center for treatment, according to the FHP.

Algie and Lecinda King were both wearing their seatbelts.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP reported.

Westbound traffic was completely blocked for about 30 minutes after the crash. By Sunday evening, the scene had been cleared and traffic was moving again.
