EBRO — Two spring breakers died Saturday in a traffic crash on State Road 20 near Howell Bluff Drive, according to Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Bill May.
The crash occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on the eastern boundary of Walton County near Ebro.
One of the vehicles was full of spring breakers on their way home to Ohio, May said.
Brittney S. Gallagher, 21, of Willoughby, Ohio, was driving westbound on SR 20 in a 2000 Dodge four-door vehicle when she drifted into eastbound traffic, a Florida Highway Patrol crash report states.
Gallagher veered “aggressively” back into the westbound lane and then a second correction caused the vehicle to rotate counterclockwise, according to FHP.
The car crossed the centerline a second time and into the path of Kelly T. Porter, 26, of Stillwater, Okla., in a 2006 Dodge pickup.
Gallagher and her front passenger, Courtney L. Miller, 21, of Niles, Ohio, were pronounced dead on the scene. Both were wearing a seat belt. Gallagher’s two other passengers, Diana N. Mitchell, 22, of Solon, Okla., and Lauren E. Kane, 22, of Willoughby, Ohio, were taken to Bay Medical Center in critical condition.
Porter was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center in serious condition. One of the passengers, Braden R. Solis, 21, of Oklahoma City, Okla., was taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center with minor injuries. Porter’s three other passengers, Tyler J. Magar, 22, of Yukon, Okla.; Courtney E. Butnett, 23, of Edmond, Okla.; and Matthew Gallant, 21, of Oklahoma City, Okla., were all taken to Gulf Coast Medical Center with serious injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
