MARY ESTHER - The Mary Esther Fire Department will flow test the city’s 164 hydrants throughout March.
The testing will be divided into four zones as follows:
- Zone 1 — Monday through Friday, east side of Mary Esther Boulevard and north end of Hollywood to the city limits.
- Zone 2 — March 11-15, east side of Mary Esther Boulevard and Hollywood south to the city limits.
- Zone 3 – March 18-22, west side of Mary Esther Boulevard and north end of Hollywood to the city limits.
- Zone 4 – March 25-29, west side of Mary Esther Boulevard and Hollywood south to the city limits.
Testing hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
Residents should not park near hydrants and try to remain clear when testing is in progress.
Hydrant flushing sometimes stirs up sediment and results in temporary brown or “rusty” water in nearby houses and businesses.
Residents can minimize rusty water by limiting water when hydrant tests are taking place nearby. They should not wash clothes until the flushing is complete and rusty water is flushed from the home’s plumbing.
